Calgary, Alberta –The Calgary TELUS Convention Centre (CTCC) is proud to announce their accreditation as a Rainbow Registered Business. Rainbow Registered is a national accreditation for LGBT+ friendly businesses and organizations. Organizations with the accreditation meet a stringent set of standards to ensure LGBT+ customers feel safe, welcomed, and accepted.
The assessment looked at workplace policies the CTCC has in place that address diversity and inclusion, how the centre supports the LGBT+ community and the standards in place to ensure employees continue to be trained and educated.
“As an organization that is a community hub for our city, it was important for us to become Rainbow Registered,” says Kurby Court, President and CEO at the CTCC. “This is only one step we are taking to ensure our employees, clients and those attending events at the centre feel safe and welcomed. We will continue to educate ourselves and have access to the necessary tools we need to create an inclusive environment for all.”
"We are a better and stronger city when we are inclusive. When people are fully accepted and encouraged to show up as themselves - without judgement or expectations - we are creating space for everyone to live authentically. The CTCC's Rainbow Registered accreditation is a great step forward to ensure everyone who walks in the door will be seen and served," says Mayor Gondek, City of Calgary.
“We are excited to welcome the Calgary TELUS Convention Centre to our Rainbow Registered family," remarks Darrell Schuurman, CEO and Co-Founder of Canada's LGBT+ Chamber of Commerce. "Rainbow Registered is, at its core, a movement to establish a dedicated community of businesses and organizations committed to greater inclusion of LGBT+ customers, employees, and stakeholders. With the rigour of the Rainbow Registered assessment process, organizations looking to host events in Calgary or individuals attending a gathering at the Calgary TELUS Convention Centre can rest easy knowing they are entering a truly LGBT+ friendly and safe space."
This accreditation speaks to the dedication and work of the CTCC employees who go above and beyond every day to ensure experiences are created that empower all communities to connect, share, celebrate and grow.
